Training Programs at RIHM
At Rise Institute of Hotel Management (RIHM), Kolkata, we strongly believe that hospitality cannot be mastered inside a classroom alone. A successful hotel professional is developed through a perfect balance of academic learning and practical industry exposure.
To ensure our students graduate with confidence, professional skills, and real-world experience, RIHM offers a progressive training pathway consisting of Casual Training (CT), Industrial Training (IT), and On-the-Job Training (OJT). Each stage has a unique purpose and is designed to prepare students for successful careers in India's leading hospitality brands as well as international opportunities.
Casual Training (CT)
Learn While You Practice
Casual Training (CT) is an introductory practical training program conducted alongside regular classroom studies. Unlike full-time internships, students attend training for only a few hours during selected days without affecting their academic schedule.
This training allows students to experience the real hospitality environment from the beginning of their course while continuing their theoretical education at RIHM.
Students are placed in reputed 4-Star and 5-Star hotels, where they observe hotel operations, interact with guests, and develop professional confidence under industry supervision.
Key Features
• Practical exposure while continuing regular classes
• Flexible training schedule
• Conducted in reputed 4-Star & 5-Star hotels
• Early industry exposure
• Hands-on learning from hospitality professionals
• Improves confidence and workplace discipline
• Develops customer service skills
• Helps students understand hotel culture before full-time internships
Objective
The primary objective of Casual Training is to bridge classroom learning with practical exposure from the very beginning of the course, helping students become industry-ready through continuous hands-on experience.
Industrial Training (IT)
Experience the Complete Hotel Operation
Industrial Training (IT) is a mandatory academic component of the diploma program where students undergo full-time practical training in leading hospitality establishments for 3 to 6 months.
During this period, students become part of the hotel's operational team and receive systematic exposure to all major hotel departments through departmental rotations.
Students learn how different departments coordinate with one another to deliver exceptional guest experiences while understanding professional standards followed in luxury hotels.
Departmental Rotation Includes
• Food Production (Kitchen)
• Food & Beverage Service
• Front Office
• Housekeeping & Accommodation Operations
Key Features
• Full-time practical industry exposure
• Mandatory academic requirement
• Rotational training across all core hotel departments
• Training in reputed 4-Star & 5-Star luxury hotels
• Opportunity to earn attractive stipends (where applicable)
• Professional evaluation by hotel management
• Industry networking opportunities
• Strong foundation for future employment
Objective
Industrial Training helps students transform classroom knowledge into practical skills while understanding the complete functioning of a hotel. It prepares students for professional careers by exposing them to real operational environments and industry expectations.
On-the-Job Training (OJT)
Master One Department Like a Professional
On-the-Job Training (OJT) is an advanced stage of professional training where students focus exclusively on one specialized department based on their career interests.
Instead of rotating across departments, students work continuously within a single department under the guidance of experienced supervisors and departmental managers. This allows them to develop advanced operational skills and achieve departmental expertise.
Depending on the student's performance, many hospitality organizations also offer attractive stipends and employment opportunities during or after the OJT period.
Specialization Options
